Cefixime 50 mg Clavulanate Potassium 31.25 mg Dry Syrup

If you take other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Zifi CV 50 Dry Syrup may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Zifi CV 50 Dry Syrup may interact with the following drugs and products:

• Ethinyl Estradiol
• Gentamycin
• Levonorgestrel
• Methotrexate
• Neomycin
• Norethindrone

The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of this Dry Syrup. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but serious. Consult your doctor if you observe any of the following side-effects, especially if they do not go away.

• Abdominal Pain
• Stomach Pain
• Nausea
• Hypersensitive Reactions
• Diarrhea
• Indigestion

As with other cephlalosporins, bactericidal action of Cefixime results from inhibition of cell wall synthesis. Cefixine is highly stable in the presence of beta-lactamse enzymes. As a result, many organism resistant to penicillin and some cephalosporins due to the presence of betalactamses, may be susceptable to cefixime. Cefixime has been shown to be active against most strians of the following organism both in vitro and in clinical infections.

Gram-positive Organisms
Streptococcus pneumoniae
Streptococcus pyogenes

Gram-negative microorganisms
Haemophilus influenzae
Moraxella (Branhamella) catarrhalis (most of which are beta-lactamase positive),
Escherichia coli,
Proteus mirabilis,
Neisseria gonorrhoeae (including penicillinase and nonpencillinase producing strains).

Cefixime has been shown to be active in vitro against most strains of the following organism; however, clinical efficacy has not been established.

Streptococcus agalactiae

Gram-negative Organism
Haemophilus parainfluenzae (beta-lactamse positive and negative strains),
Proteus vulgaris
Klebsiella pneumoniae
Klebsiella oxytoca
Pasteurella multocida,
Providencia species,
Salmonella species
Shigella species
Citrobacter amalonaticus
Citrobacter diversus
Serratia marcescens

Before using this drug, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.

• Be careful if you have penicillin-associated jaundice or skin rash, kidney or liver dysfunction
• Consult your doctor if you develop Allergic reactions
• Do not crush or chew the tablets
• History of anemia
• Inflammation of colon
• Kidney problems
